Jam and Dance with FBC Rebirth at RJ Bistro

A few weeks ago, I was busy listening to my favorite songs from yesteryears in a way to revisit the past. Obviously, I’m still thinking about My Love Will See You Through and all popular songs of Dan Hill and Nonoy Zuñiga.

I didn’t know that it will lead to something good – meeting one of the my favorite singers, Nonoy Zuñiga. Truly a jet-setter, going back and forth the country and the US, he is also busy supporting new talents these days.

That’s how I met Pauline “Pau” Cueto, one of the promising singers nowadays. She was once a weekly contender of TV5’s Born To Be a Star and has a self-titled album that’s already out in the market for everyone to enjoy and listen to her all-OPM songs.

As part of the RJ Anniversary month, a special show Jam & Dance with FBC Rebirth Band will be held on July 20, 2016 at Dusit Thani Hotel with special guest, the Pop Icon Nonoy Zuñiga and introducing Pauline “Pau” Cueto. The time of the most-awaited event is 8:30 PM.

I’d like to share that Nonoy was with the Family Birth Control Band now called FBC Rebirth when he lost his right limb making him a collateral damage of Martial Law. Until now, Nonoy jams with his olb band whenever his schedule allows it.

Currently, FBC Rebirth still provides the disco music and popular tunes released years ago that made them popular in the live disco scene forty years ago. The band still performs with the original members such as Jiji Sanchez, Toots Almazan, Ferdy Flores, Peachy Murillo, Jess Balmaceda, Sammy Villarin, Gee Carlos, Danny Trias, Dex Ansay, Nilo Villanueva and Edwin Valente.

The OPM Hitmaker, Dr. Nonoy Zuñiga released his latest digital single “Sigaw Ng Puso” by Barney Borja is now available at iTunes, Spotify and Dezzeer.

Zuñiga is now a certified Skin Care Specialist. He is a partner of Piel Skin Acne and Wellness Center in Makati Place.

For tickets to jam and dance, please call 09282801551, 09165681357 and 02-9579537.

The interview and photo opportunity was held at Live Life Vegetarian Restaurant in front of La Fuerza in Makati City.

Let Gravity Draw In for Music Lovers

Tuesday evening was a revelation. There’s no way to prevent me from reaching my destination for the night – that is to attend the launching of Let Gravity band at Limbaga 77 Restaurant Cafe in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

In the midst of bidding for time to let me in for the duty, I was thinking of the opportunity to be inspired with the mystery of music. It’s always changing things. It gives us all the freedom to create inspiration, motivation and education for everyone.

Luckily, the existence of Let Gravity was inspired with great timing. Five friends and seasoned musicians gather in the fold to uplift original Filipino music in their own way – write and play original songs in English lyrics to serenade music lovers from around the world. No one is left behind. Everything’s in for the groove, allowing the natural law of gravity to take center stage and entertain all people.

Let Gravity Defy is the band’s soon-to-be-released album.

The men behind the new music outfit, Let Gravity, are remarkably talented in music. Guitarist Sam Santos, the band’s guitarist, is a professional songwriter who composed the teleserye theme song “Alipin” and other telenovela theme songs. His brother, bassist Donne Santos, was the founding member of indie-band “Goodbye Tracy” and is a former member of Ramchavesband- formerly Sutil. Acoustic and finger-style guitarist, Rigil Borromeo and drummer Alden Acosta were UST schoolmates, ex-members of the band “happydaysahead”; the latter was also a former member of pop-rock band Callalily. The newest member is lead vocalist Ram Chaves, who once had his own band called Ramchavesband and formerly a runner up in the GMA 7 Pinoy Idol Season 1 competition.

I’m so enamored with the song from the album, With A Kisssince it has an awesome vibe – a sad love song yet so hopeful. For a hopeless romantic, the song is completely soulful. It’s now airing on MYX – don’t forget to vote for their music video.

Sometime in July, Let Gravity will release the music video for Alamat. This track is the movie theme song of the biopic Hermano Puli, directed by veteran filmmaker Gil Portez, with Aljur Abrenica in the title role, a historical film under T-Rex Entertainment which will be showing in Cinemas in September.

During the mini blogger’s conference for the band, I asked a few questions. I was curious about the inspiration of the song, With A Kiss” since I felt sad after watching the music video for the first time. One of the band members answered the question, telling us that they had a friend who really liked someone, but they cannot be together. When time finally came that they can be together, something happened, that they could have that one kiss to express their love to each other. I also asked about the possibility of having a lot of songs from them to be chosen as themes for movies and television series. They’re positive about it and they’ll have our full support.

What will make you love the groovy yet soulful music of Let Gravity today? It’s their willingness to be accessible to their fans. It’s their vow to let music inspire us all.

The band’s new album, Defy, is now available on Spotify, Amazon, Deezer and iTunes. CDs available soon in Odyssey Music Store nationwide. It’s digitally distributed by Star Music.

All in all, the event ended with camaraderie and happiness. It was all worth it.

Descendants of the Sun as Phenomenal Korean Television Drama 2016

There was a time when I longed to watch another South Korean television drama, after falling in love with Save Your Last Dance For Me, Queen Seon Deok, Stairway to Heaven, Someone Like You and My Love Donna television series. On Facebook, some of my friends post fascinating images of their favorite South Korean television series and I noticed that Descendants of the Sun is a usual sight.

That made me watch all of its episodes on Youtube. Obviously, I fell in love with Descendants of the Sun, too.

There’s only one word to describe Descendants of the Sun to sum up its popularity – phenomenal. The reasons? Let’s talk about it one by one.

karence dots

  1. The leading stars have noticeable chemistry at the start of the story up to the ending. Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo make you fall in love against all odds in the series. Through the natural acting of the lead stars, you’ll be literally taken to a nostalgic place, to the days you fell in love with someone, and reminisce the things you’ve done for the person that you truly love. Of course, I don’t want to forget warning you that Song Hye Kyo’s performance in the show was exceptionally captivating and you’ll end up crying with her in the scenes where she has shown her true feelings towards Song Joong Ki’s character, Captain Yoo Shi Jin. The latter has an enchanting charisma that was brought by his ability to convince you that love knows no bounds, whenever and wherever you are. Personally, it’s impressive to hear Doctor Kang Mo-Yeon ask Captain Yoo Shi Jin something like this: “Give me the right to worry about you.” I’m enamored of their chemistry when I saw the mesmerizing scene wherein Captain Yoo Shi Jin fixed the shoelaces of Doctor Kang Mo-Yeon.
  2. The supporting characters perfectly created the circle around the love story of the lead stars. The mysterious love story of Major Seo Dae-young and Yoon Myeong-joo is something you’ll approve, knowing that they’re capable of making you believe that being away with your loved one is a very sad experience that you’ll always afraid it will happen anytime. The best thing to do is to fight for it no matter what. The shirtless soldiers? You’ll be amazed of it, laugh out of it and be surely entertained. The nurses and doctors, including Daniel Spencer and Ri Ye-hwa have incredibly added spices to the story.dots style
  3. You’ll love the intense fighting scenes. Right near the ending, you’ll understand the importance of treating people well, may it be an enemy or not. There was one scene that Captain Yoo Shi Jin explained that they were “saved by a friend.”
  4. The television series is indeed a total global sensation. The gorgeous lead stars, amazing supporting cast, the remarkable backdrop and plot of the story, the handsome main antagonist, the picturesque beach view and more – made it world-class. If you’re a fan, you’ll be amazed of the latest news about this. Wait, until it will be shown in the Philippines. I’ve heard from my office manager that a major television network in the country had already bought rights to air the show in the country. Personally, I have no doubts legions of followers from here will join the ranks of solid Descendants of the Sun fans. If it’s already popular in other countries, it will be phenomenal here, too. Since reports have hinted that a second season is underway, it will be another reason to follow through.

Obviously, I was thrilled seeing the news creating a hype the show. Focus Taiwan News Channel shared that Song Joong Ki is going to meet his Taiwan fans soon. Have you seen the YouTube video where Song Joong Ki didn’t expect throngs of fans wait for him in the airport? You’ll be amazed, too.

For those who want to know more about Descendants of the Sun, Rolala Loves shared an amazing post about it. Aside from that, Drama Fever posted a simple yet thought-provoking review of the show.

Are you a fan? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.
